If you want to get around Croatia by car you must have driver's

In case you're reaching Croatia with some other type of transport and
plan to rent-a-car here you should have on your IDL – international driving license – and your credit card for deposit purposes.
Main routes towards Croatian coast:
– tolls apply and the entire route (Zagreb – Dubrovnik) is 30 €; most credit cards and currencies are accepted, however any return will be in kuna
– mainly two-lane road with a lot of blind curves so caution is advised, or for less experienced drivers choice of Motorway A1 instead
– toll free
– mostly toll free – except sections in full motorway profile and tunnel Učka
During the summer main roads are quite busy, especially on weekends and holidays. You might find useful the traffic report Croatian radio (98,5 Mhz) broadcasts every few hours in several world languages.
Useful info:
– Road assistance number is: (+385 1) 1987

By Bus
Bus service in cities is quite developed in bigger towns. One-way ticket will cost you a little over 1 €, and in most cases buses are available from early morning till around midnight.
Bus tickets
Unfortunately, online service for bus tickets is still not common in Croatia, but you can buy them at every bus terminal. In most cases return ticket is discounted. However, keep in mind that if you buy a return ticket that means you have to travel on that company's bus in both direction.
